Hi All,
I was contacted by a member of the UIC Flourish planning committee
today. It looks like Flourish 2016 is a "go." They've scheduled the
event for Friday and Saturday, April 1st and 2nd. This is great news.
I asked if they had a theme for this year's event, and he said that they
didn't - that they just wanted to focus on making Flourish as great as
they could. I also asked if he'd be okay with me reaching out to other
potential speakers, and he was enthusiastic about that.
With that, I know that we have a good number of capable and enthusiastic
presenters amongst us in the LUG. Are any of you interested in speaking
at this year's event? In the past, the general theme of the event has
been around Free and Open Source software in business, but there was
always some flexibility around that.
If you don't want to give a talk, but want to recommend someone else,
that would be good, too.
If you'd like to give a talk, just reply here and I'll get you in touch
with the person who contacted me.
If you are on the fence about presenting, I strongly encourage you to do
so!! It's great that the UIC folks are starting this up again, and it
would be great if we could help make it a great event!
Regards,
Jim
P.S. It looks like the next LUG meeting will be in early February, but
we might have a Programming Tonight event prior to then. One of us will
be in touch with folks.
