That is true. There is no optical drive. I have not used an optical drive
for four years so I forgot about that. Secure boot is turned off by
default. The next model down does include an external optical drive, but it
is a step down processor wise. A dual core instead of quad core and an
Intel celeron instead of an Intel pentium.

The trackpad worked with Ubuntu that came with, but not stock Fedora 22
workstation, so that needs to be fixed. Works with an external usb mouse.
No battery or heat issues. The hard drive and ram are removable/upgradeable
by unscrewing two screws in the back. It uses Intel graphics with no
issues. The wifi chipset is an Atheros chipset, so I wonder if it is a
"libre" wifi chipset that will work with an FSF approved distro. The Ubuntu
that it shipped with included some sort of Amazon adware that I did not
like. I could not create usb recovery media with the dell utility in
Ubuntu, it kept crashing. No Firefox at all, only Google chrome in the
default Ubuntu installation.

Those are my thoughts for now.
