Hi All,
This project [0] seems like it might be worthwhile and useful for a lot
of folks . . . it seems that there are at least a few (?) webrtc-based
free software alternatives to Google Hangouts, but implementing them is
non-trivial and perhaps not neatly documented for interested users. It
seems like working on a project like this (where we work to automate
setup and configuration of the service on a cloud server) could also
help us if we wanted to allow remote participation for some of our
talks.

The server component is currently only packaged for OpenSUSE (did I
capitalize that correctly?), but the build instructions are well
documented.
I'd be interested in getting something like this set up, and it seems
like it could be helpful for a lot of folks if we were able to get it
going in an automated fashion. Would other folks be interested in this?
Jim
P.S. This all comes about via an email thread on the GNOME Foundation
mailing list. For interested parties, the conversation starts here:

Jangouts might be something worth to give a try and keep an eye on it.
It is a self-hosted solution that uses WebRTC and JavaScript. It has a
MIT license.
